Privacy policy

The short version

This is an informational website. We do not require you to create an account, we do not ask you to submit personal details in order to read anything, and we do not sell personal information.

Information we collect

Server logs. Like almost all websites, our hosting provider records standard technical information when a page is requested: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring page, the pages requested and the date and time. This is used to keep the site running, diagnose problems and understand aggregate traffic patterns.

Email you send us. If you write to us with a correction or question, we hold your message and email address for as long as needed to deal with it. We do not add you to a mailing list.

Cookies and analytics

We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which pages are useful and where visitors have difficulty. Any analytics we use is configured to report aggregate patterns rather than to build profiles of individuals. Where cookies are set for this purpose, you can block or delete them through your browser settings without losing access to any content on this site.

Third-party embeds and links

Pages on this site embed maps supplied by Google. When such an embed loads, the third party receives your IP address and may set its own cookies, governed by its own privacy policy rather than ours. The same applies when you follow an outbound link, including affiliate links to hotel booking platforms, which may record that the click came from this site in order to attribute a commission.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. Write to hello@thewheelockplace.com and we will respond within a reasonable period.

Children

This site is a general-audience travel and shopping guide and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy as the site develops. Material changes will be reflected by the review date shown in the site footer.
