Getting to Wheelock Place

Wheelock Place sits at 501 Orchard Road, on the corner of Orchard Road, Scotts Road and Paterson Road. Here is every practical way to reach it — MRT, bus, taxi, car and the underground link network.

By MRT

Orchard MRT station is the closest station and it is genuinely close — the mall is connected to it underground. Orchard is served by two lines: the North South Line, where it is station NS22, and the Thomson–East Coast Line, where it is TE14. That makes Wheelock Place reachable without a transfer from most of the central, northern and eastern parts of the island.

From the platform, follow signage towards Wheelock Place or ION Orchard. Exit E takes you into the Paterson Link underpass, which surfaces inside the mall’s basement levels. The whole walk takes about five minutes and is entirely under cover, which matters a great deal in the middle of a Singapore afternoon or during a downpour.

By bus

Orchard Road is one of the most heavily served bus corridors in Singapore. The nearest stops to Wheelock Place are outside the Royal Thai Embassy, at Tang Plaza on the opposite corner of the junction, and directly outside Orchard MRT station. All three leave you within a two-minute walk of the mall entrance.

By taxi or ride-hailing

Give the address as 501 Orchard Road, or simply say Wheelock Place — every driver in Singapore knows it. There is a drop-off point at the building. During the evening peak, traffic on Orchard Road backs up badly around this junction; asking to be dropped on the Angullia Park side, where the car park entrance is, will often save you several minutes.

By car

The basement car park entrance is on Angullia Park, the road running down the western edge of the site. Note that Orchard Road operates under Electronic Road Pricing at certain times, and gantries in the area charge during peak periods. Full rates and tips are on our parking page.

On foot, through the basements

The most useful thing to know about Wheelock Place is that you rarely need to be outside. The mall links by underpass to Shaw House next door and, under Orchard Road, to ION Orchard and the MRT station — from where the network continues to Wisma Atria and Ngee Ann City. In practice you can walk a long stretch of the shopping belt in air conditioning, and Wheelock Place is the western end of that chain.

Answers

Getting to Wheelock Place: common questions

Which MRT station is Wheelock Place?

Orchard MRT station, served by the North South Line (NS22) and the Thomson–East Coast Line (TE14). The mall connects to the station through the underground pedestrian network, so you can walk from the platform to the shops without going outside. Exit E leads to the Paterson Link underpass and into the mall’s basement levels.

How far is Wheelock Place from ION Orchard?

They face each other across Orchard Road, about a minute apart on foot — but you go underneath rather than across. The at-grade pedestrian crossing directly between the two was closed in 2009 and traffic was moved to the basement link, which runs under Orchard Road and connects both malls to the MRT station.

Which bus stops serve Wheelock Place?

The closest stops are outside the Royal Thai Embassy on Orchard Road, at Tang Plaza across the junction, and at Orchard MRT station itself. Any service running the Orchard Road corridor towards Tanglin or Napier puts you within about two minutes on foot.

Is Wheelock Place wheelchair accessible?

Yes. Lifts serve every retail level including both basements, and the underground link to Orchard MRT avoids road crossings entirely. Accessible toilets are provided in the mall. If you are driving, the basement car park connects directly to the lift lobby.

How far is Wheelock Place from Changi Airport?

Roughly 20 to 25 kilometres depending on route, which is typically 25 to 35 minutes by taxi or ride-hail outside peak hours. By MRT, take the East West Line from Changi Airport, change at Tanah Merah and again at City Hall for the North South Line to Orchard; allow about an hour including transfers.
